Objective: For students to be able to identify blending consonant vowels consonant (CVC).
Sub-topic: Spelling and word family.
Topic: Sight Words
Objective: For students to be able to identify sight words.
Sub-topic: Matching words to picture, read simple sentences.
Topic: Writing
Objective: For students to be able to copy short sentences.
Sub-topic: Spacing and book knowledge (how to correctly write in a note book).
Topic: Vocabulary (Part 1)
Objective: For students to be able to understand, listen, speak, read and write in standard English. Also, to bring structure to a sentence.
Sub-topic: Punctuation, nouns and verbs.
Topic: Comprehension Part 1 (Mental Ability)
Objective: For students to develop critical thinking.
Assessment: Post-test
End of term exams
N.B. At the end of each 6 week, a test is done.
Term 2 (January-March/April)
Topic: Phonics and word recognition
Objective: For students to be able to blend letter sounds.
Sub-topics: Continuation of word family, consonant blend, vowel blend and silent letters.
Topic: Vocabulary Part 2
Objective: For students to be able to construct simple sentences.
Sub-topic: reading and decoding.
Topic: Basic Grammar
Objective: For students to be able to identify subject verb agreement.
Sub-topic: Pronouns(simple), plural and helping verbs.
Topic: Comprehension (Part 2)
Objective: For students to develop critical thinking and to be able to answer questions (verbally or written).
Assessment: Post-test

Objective: For students to be able to blend letter sounds.

Topic: Adjectives
Objective: For students to be able to describe people, animals, places and things.

Objective: For students to be able to locate items or body positions.
Topic: Revision
