
Principles of Business (POB) is a Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) subject that introduces students to the fundamental concepts, principles, and practices of business. The course provides learners with an understanding of how businesses operate within local, regional, and global environments and examines the role of business in economic development.
The syllabus covers key areas such as entrepreneurship, forms of business ownership, management, marketing, production, finance, human resource management, customer relations, and the business environment. Students develop problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and analytical skills that prepare them for further studies, employment, and entrepreneurial ventures.
Through the study of Principles of Business, students gain knowledge of the relationships among businesses, consumers, governments, and other stakeholders, enabling them to become informed citizens and effective participants in the world of work.
